Academics Overview

Marymount students take an active role in their learning process, becoming constructors of their knowledge. We generate motivation and commitment to explore, question, and build their understanding.

Our students build their knowledge based on their own cognitive and emotional foundation, and during our classes, they learn from their peers through discussion, debate, and collaboration on projects.

The school has always been concerned with providing families with an opportunity for education through a scholarship program to support students. The JUAN CINTRON PATTERSON SCHOLARSHIP FUND provides support for students to have a quality education; it currently supports approximately 25% of our students.

The Counseling Department at Marymount is a fundamental strength of the school and serves as a communication bridge between students, teachers, and parents. To achieve the integral development of students, this department focuses primarily on three pillars: emotional, academic, and social spheres. Additionally, the guidance counselors teach the students the necessary tools to solve the problems they may face. The implementation of the Educational Inclusion Program has allowed students with special situations and needs to receive guidance and timely follow-up to achieve academic success. Also, the vocational guidance classes offer students personalized support to find their interests, skills, and vocations/professions/careers to match with the universities of their interest.

The International Counseling department at Marymount offers personalized guidance and support starting in ninth grade, where students explore the international universities they can apply to, taking into account their profile and interests. This is a unique benefit in Morelos that only Marymount provides. The International College Counselor has guided many of our students to be admitted to over 100 of the world´s best universities with outstanding results in their admission processes, as well as a high percentage of scholarships to continue their studies. The United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Germany have been the main options.

We must be the love of God in the world; therefore, one of the main programs of the Spiritual and Religious Formation department is Social Service. BEE MARYMOUNT is a program where we promote awareness of the needs of others, the development of commitment to world peace and social justice, and the acquisition of the necessary leadership skills to achieve specific goals. Through this program, our students share their love in the form of time, knowledge, attention, talents, and/or resources. Last year, the Marymount Community dedicated more than 3,500 hours of social service to various institutions. This kind of social service impacts our local community in a remarkable way.

We have a wide range of extracurricular class options that allow our students to explore a variety of interests, hobbies, and talents beyond the academic curriculum. Extracurricular classes are of great importance for developing skills in areas such as art, music, sports, technology/STEM, public speaking, and leadership. Some of the options we have are: Chess, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball, Fencing, Art, Creative Writing, Model United Nations (MUN), Suzuki Orchestra, Photography, First Aid, Robotics, among others.

At Marymount, we are committed to excellence, and a fundamental part of that commitment is having highly qualified teachers. We are proud to mention that a high percentage of our teachers hold master's and/or doctorate degrees in their areas of specialization; we firmly believe that the academic background and professional experience of our teachers enrich the quality of the teaching we offer at our school. Additionally, many of our teachers reinforce the multicultural environment of the school by coming from diverse nationalities. Our teachers are humane and warm, and play a crucial role as guides, facilitators, and motivators.
